Skravle — Twitch chat, done right on iPhone
A native iOS and tvOS Twitch chat client I built, with no tracking and every emote you actually want.
Skravle is a native app I built for people who care about Twitch chat — not as an afterthought bolted onto a video player, but as the main event. It’s just been submitted to the App Store for review.
The tagline is the whole pitch: Twitch chat, the way it should feel on iPhone.
What it does
- Every emote, properly. 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ (global and channel), fully animated, stacked zero-width emotes, cheermotes, badges, and Twitch’s own sub emotes — the ones most mobile clients mangle or drop.
- Read without logging in. Type a channel and you’re in, with recent history backfilled; sign in with Twitch only if you want to actually post.
- Built-in player, so you can watch and chat in one place — it can also embed a Kick stream, or a second Twitch channel over any chat.
- Made for the TV, too. A native tvOS app plays the stream beside a read-only chat, fully navigable with the remote.
- Never loses the thread. Silent reconnects with gap-backfill, network- change detection, and honest “not delivered” marking when a send fails — the small reliability details that matter most in a fast-moving chat.
- Chat-regular features. Multi-channel tabs, reply threads, user cards, keyword highlights, mention notifications, image previews, and local blocking.
- Two dark themes, 13 languages, no third-party dependencies — it’s pure SwiftUI.
Why it exists
Mobile Twitch chat has always felt like a compromise. Skravle is my attempt to make it feel like the desktop experience people actually love — fast, complete, and pleasant to live in, on the device you actually have in your hand (or on your TV).
And it’s private by default: no servers of my own, no analytics, no tracking. That isn’t a marketing checkbox for me — it’s the same principle this whole site is built on. Tools should serve the person using them and no one else. It’s also why Wheelhouse lives on a subdomain of skravle.app rather than its own infrastructure — one small, quiet footprint instead of several.
